Here at Sweet Oak Collaborative, our mission to address unmet needs and fill in the gaps for our neighbors has always been fueled by the incredible support of this community. As a volunteer-run organization, every milestone we reach is a shared victory. Today, we have a particularly exciting milestone to share. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of our volunteers and the immense generosity of our donors, we are taking a major step forward in our mission to provide vital housing solutions.
We are thrilled to announce that our Transitional Housing program is officially expanding! Until now, our fourplex has served as the cornerstone of our housing initiatives, providing a safe harbor and a stepping stone for those in need. While we are incredibly proud of the impact made there, the need for transitional shelter in Bryan and the greater Brazos Valley continues to grow. To meet that need head-on, we are launching a brand-new collaboration with placing an RV at Oak Haven RV Park (more RV’s to come!) This partnership allows us to broaden our housing options and provide immediate, dignified shelter to more individuals working to get back on their feet.
The real-world impact of this collaboration is already being felt. We are overjoyed to report that our very first client has successfully moved into an RV on the Oak Haven property. A generous supporter who had been providing shelter for an elderly neighbor at a local hotel reached out to see if he would qualify for our Transitional program while he looked for more permanent housing. This donor had already paid for several weeks of shelter at a local hotel, in addition to providing him with clothing and food. At that very time another generous donor who had seen our efforts to rehome families displaced from the Roadrunner RV park in August 2025 reached out to gift Sweet Oak the use of their nice RV! “Use it for a family in need ” they said, “we are not using it”. We extend our deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to these donors, and the team at Oak Haven RV Park who each share our vision.
Having a secure, private place to call home makes all the difference when navigating life’s challenges, and seeing our neighbors settle into their new space is exactly why we do what we do. It is a beautiful reminder of what happens when donors, local businesses, community organizations, and volunteers cooperate to lift each other up.
They are the engine behind these life-changing moments. They continually pour their time, resources, and love into Sweet Oak Collaborative initiatives, that directly translate, as in this case, to roofs over heads.
As we look ahead, we expect this relationship with Oak Haven to grow, allowing us to help even more people in our community find stability and hope. This is just the beginning of a very exciting season for us. Keep an eye on our page, and expect to see a lot more “growth” stories like this throughout the rest of the year!
